Small Groups on Motivation and Skills
BRIDGES (BUILDING RECOVERY OF INDIVIDUAL DREAMS AND GOALS THROUGH EDUCATION AND SUPPORT) is an 8-week course that can help a person with mental health challenges recover with a new and valued sense of self and purpose. There are two basic principles upon which this course is built: safe support for expressing feelings and learning about facts. BRIDGES is designed to provide the student with a solid foundation of general information on recovery, support, types of mental illness, medications and how they affect the brain, problem management, crisis planning, suicide prevention, and communication skills. After the class is finished there is a BRIDGES Support Group that meets the last Wednesday of each month.
WRAP (WELLNESS RECOVERY ACTION PLAN) is a course that is taught over a shorter length of time than BRIDGES. It is an excellent course for helping people work though problems and create positive change in their lives. The plan includes responses when symptoms make it impossible for a person to make their own decisions, take care of themselves or keep themselves safe. WRAP is based on five key concepts of recovery: Hope, Personal Responsibility, Education, Self-Advocacy, and Support.
